Electrician Estimate Calculator in detail

Let's take a look at our example electrician estimate calculator to see all of the specific features.

Service Selection

When your website visitor opens your estimate page, the first part of the estimate calculator they will see is the "Select Service" page. This is where they select the service that they wish to receive an estimate for.

In our example we offer "Lighting Istallation" and "Electrical Wiring Installation". You can set whatever services you want to, this is completely ustomisable. Each service then has its own set of questions with possible answers.

Make it simple for your users

Back button

A back button makes it simple for your users to return to previous questions if they feel they have made the wrong selection for their electrical services estimate. This improves the user experience.

Submission page

Every Estimate Calculator contains a submission page. This is the last page the user will see before sending off their details in return for an electrician estimate. You are free to request any extra information from the user that you wish. And you can select if the input is required or optional. The only compulsory field that every Estimate Calculator must have is an email field. The reason being that estimates are emailed to your users.

In our example we have opted to ask the user for their name, email address and an optional message. Each input indicates whether the field is optional or required. In our example we have made name required and message optional. As mentioned previously, email is required for every estimate. You may wish to add extra fields such as phone number or postcode or remove fields such as message. The decision is yours.

Estimates emailed to your electrician clients

Once your website visitor has submitted their answers, 2 emails are sent out. One email is sent to the potential customer and one is sent to you, the business. Currently the business is BCC'd in the the email sent to the potential customer. You have the freedom to customize this email and can change what information is displayed.

For best results we currently recommend passing all information back to the customer in their email. This way both you and them are on the same page about what information has been submitted.

Once this email is received by the potential customer they can reply to it directly to book in the job, or ask any questions.

Receiving this information yourself makes it quick and simple to follow up on any enquiries that don't reply to the estimate email. For example, if you do not hear anything from a potential customer, you could send them a special discount, or ask if they need anything clarifying about the estimate.

How to setup your Electrician Estimate Calculator

Setting up an Estimate Calculator for an electrician business is so simple to do. Create an account and sign up to a plan.

1. Start from a template or from scratch

Once you have created your account and signed up, its time to start configuring your Estimate Calculator. You can choose to either create your own Estimate Calculator from scratch, or select to use our electrician starting point template. Either way its easy to do. Enter your services, and the questions and answers for each service. Each service can be assigned a base estimate amount, which is the starting point for any estimate. Each answer associated with that service can also be assigned an amount. The base amount will be added to any answer amounts to create estimates!

One of the great things about Estimate Calculators is that you can send estimates to customers from your own business email address! In order to enable this feature you must submit your business email address in your settings page. Doing this will alert our email service provider who will send you a verification email. Click the link in the email to verify it and you are good to go! All you need to do now is select your verified email address from the drop down menu in your email settings.

If you would rather not use your business email address or you do not have such an email address, you are able to use our default sending address.

3. Configure the estimate email

You have the freedom to customise the estimate emails that are sent out. There are variables you can use to make the emails unique to you and your needs. Because of this system its actually entirely up to you if you even provide an estimate to your users. By omitting the estimate amount variable from your email you can use your calculator purely for information gathering purposes.

4. Point your subdomain at your Estimate Calculator

For best results, we recommend you point a subdomain at your Estimate Calculator. This is simple to do, and detailed instructions can be found in our 8 minute setup guide. By doing this it keeps continuity with your website and your website users won't feel like they are exiting your site when they land on your Estimate Calculator.

5. Style your Estimate Calculator to match your branding

When it comes to styling your Electrician Estimate Calculator, you have a lot of freedom. But not so much freedom that it feels overwelming. You can change the colours to match your branding, add your logo and even change the fonts. We have preset colour schemes and font combinations if you would prefer to use these.

How to use your electrician estimate calculator for your business

Get your customers using your electrician estimate calculator!

Once your Estimate Calculator is setup and active on your electrician website, you will be ready to start collecting leads. When a potential customer lands on your website, present them with a "call to action" with a button saying "Instant Estimate" or "Get Estimate". Your website users will be far more likely to complete the Estimate Calculator form as opposed to a regular contact form. So when they click on your "call to action" button, they will be taken to your Estimate page. Here they will answer the pre-set questions, then enter their details. Importantly they will also enter their email address. They then submit the instant estimate.

Automatically calculate their estimate

Behind the scenes, the answers to their questions are handled by your Estimate Calculator, and an estimate is created. This estimate is then sent to the website user along with the answers to the questions that they submitted. The same email is also sent to you (the electrician business owner) as mentioned previously. The website user can now reply to the estimate to go ahead with the service, or they can reply with any questions they may have.

Follow up on enquiries

If you do not hear anything from the user after they received their estimate, you can easily follow up with them because you have their email address. This is great because you can ask them if they have any further questions, or even negotiate a deal with them if pricing is the issue. If you did not have an estimate calculator, many of your website users may glance at your website and leave without enquiring.
